Bleu Devils suffered their first loss of the season to the Generals in overtime.
It was a packed house in the Battlefield as the Bleu Devils faced the fifth ranked team in the country of the NAIA. In this game, the Generals were going to have to earn that title.
This was a game that was played all the way down to the last second… literally. The biggest lead of the game was eight points, score was tied six times, and the lead changed seven times. Both teams struggled from beyond the arc throughout the game, with Dillard shooting 11-of-28 and LSUA managing the same amount on 8-of-23 shooting. From the floor, the Bleu Devils finished 28-of-80 and the Generals finished 29-of-61.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Generals had a total of 19 team fouls, but the Bleu Devils did not use those opportunities on the charity line to take the lead. Bleu Devils finished 15-25 from the free throw line. A couple of those missed free throws would’ve assured the devils this win. Instead, with two missed free throws from Jr. Guard, Kristian Clark in the last seconds of regulation, the Generals were able to force the ball down the court to Sr. F, Andre Gonzaque and he makes a deep three from the corner in the last second of regulation to bring the game to overtime.
Jr. F, Demetric Austin was the leading scorer for Dillard as he finished with 23 points, and 12 rebounds, while G Dennis Hightower chipped in with 22 points and 8 assits. Sr. PG, DeAngelo Coleman lead the Generals with 17 points, 2 assists, and 3 rebounds. The Bleu Devils return to The Battlefield and take on Life University. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
